A grower who supplies a store on consignment only gets paid for what sells. So they want to know, often: what's left on the shelf, what sold this week, when they'll be paid, and whether it's time to bring more. Today that usually means a phone call or a WhatsApp to the owner, who then digs through a spreadsheet or the back office to answer it.
Multiply that by every grower and every store, and a surprising amount of an owner's week goes into being a human statement service - while the grower still never quite trusts the numbers, because they can't see them for themselves.
What a grower actually needs to see
- Their own stock at each store, what has sold and roughly how long it will last
- What they are owed, and the payouts already made, with a statement they can download
- A heads-up when their stock is running low, so the restock conversation starts before the shelf is empty
- Somewhere to tell the store what's coming - batches in progress, lab certificates, licences and harvests
And what they should never see
A grower portal is only useful if it's safe to hand out. In Budstack, a grower sees their own figures at wholesale and nothing else - never your customers, your retail prices or any other supplier. Access is per grower, set up by the store, and disabling a login removes it at once.
From harvest to shelf in one step
Growers can record their grows and harvests in the portal. A recorded harvest waits on the store's Growers screen, with a count in the menu, and the store accepts it by choosing the store, the product and the wholesale price - as a draft until the goods arrive, or straight onto the shelf. Nothing reaches a shelf until the store says so. When a payout is recorded, the grower sees the amount and reference in their portal without anyone having to send it.
The result is fewer calls, faster restocks and a supplier relationship built on shared numbers rather than trust in someone's spreadsheet.
